Representation in Australia

Kaylar Michaelian was appointed Permanent Representative of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic to Australia by President Bako Sahakyan on the 20th of October 2015.

Mr. Michaelian has been active in the Australian-Armenian community for over 40 years, particularly in the areas of media and education. He has served as president of the Armenian Students’ Association, member of the Armenian National Committee of Australia, editor of Armenia Weekly, presenter and manager of the “Voice of Sardarabad” Armenian radio, principal of Hamazkaine Arshak & Sophie Galstaun College, and Chair of Armenia Media Inc. Australia.

The permanent representation in Australia has three primary goals:

  1. Further strengthening the close ties between the Australian-Armenian community and the people of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
  2. Informing and educating Australian politicians, academics, and media about NKR and the Armenian people of Artsakh with the goal of achieving recognition of the free, independence and democratic Republic of Artsakh.
  3. Inviting Australian-Armenian Business and Professionals to contribute through their expertise to the economic and professional development of Artsakh.
